»The Picasso-Story« for school classes
The Picasso Story applies a unique exhibition concept that we are confident will appeal to students and educational institutions . We want to bring our visitors closer to 20 th century genius Pablo Picasso, and to present him within the context of his times.
Please take a moment to read a review by a fellow teacher after visiting us with her school class:
“Today’s students experience a word influenced and structured by the media on a scale never before seen. Students employ a variety of media competently , appropriately, critically, creatively, and productively. In this sense, The Picasso Story is very well suited to support students in their development. The exhibition appeals to many different senses. Visually, students consume a great deal of information about Picasso’s artistic process and experiences. At the same time, students have a chance to gain greater access to the artist, to develop a deeper understanding of Picasso’s artistic personality, with the help of the exhibition’s film installations. Furthermore, the exhibition offers students an opportunity to transform their personal experience of Picasso’s “message” into artistic activity, a feature very well received by my students. I highly recommend that art teachers at other schools consider a visit to The Picasso Story” -- Monika John, art teacher at Neues Gymnasium Glienicke.
Our goal at The Picasso Story is to provide an entertaining educational experience. We want our young visitors to be energized and emotionally engaged by our approach. On display are the artist’s graphic works and drawings, as well as photographs taken by Edward Quinn, who captured the many different facets of Picasso’s personality – while at work, with his family, and in the public eye. Picasso experts, such as Prof. Dr. Dr. Johannes M. Fox, explain the artists in video segments, for instance “Picasso, a controversial figure.” The exhibition also presents 33 original ceramic works by the artist, which both inspire and illuminate the themes that Picasso explored throughout his career. Two documentaries complement the exhibit. The Picasso Story invites visitors to unleash their creative energies, to grasp pen and paper and create. Visitors also have an opportunity to share in Picasso’s love of masquerades by dressing up themselves. Finally, the exhibition offers insight into Picasso’s involvement in the peace movement after the Second World War.
The Picasso Story offers a wonderful opportunity to complement your classroom lectures -- in particular for those teaching subjects such as art education, social studies, political science, and history .
